    Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser spotted testing in Chennai, India

    An upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser motorcycle has been spotted testing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The new 650cc cruiser gets design elements similar to the Royal Enfield KX bobber concept that was showcased at the EICMA 2018. The new Royal Enfield 650 cruiser is expected to be positioned above the Interceptor and Continental GT.

    The image shared by Ananthakrishnan M, reveals that the motorcycle indeed appears to be using Royal Enfield’s 648cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine which churns out 47 HP and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is also likely to be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine casings on it are finished in black instead of polished aluminium on the Royal Enfield 650 twins.

    Royal Enfield is using a completely new chassis for this motorcycle. Most of the components including mirrors, levers, fork legs, rear suspension and muffler are finished in black colour. The cruiser appears to be using an upside-down USD forks at front and twin shocks at rear which is mounted at a greater angle than what is seen on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

    The motorcycle sports a conventional riding position instead of feet-forward position. The cruiser is using single disc brake at the front and rear similar to the ones seen on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 motorcycles. It is also expected to get a dual-channel ABS as standard. The motorcycle seems to be riding on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels

    Last year, Royal Enfield had announced that the brand will launch one new model every quarter for at least seven years. The Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is expected to be launched in India next year and will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Vulcan S, Harley Davidson Street and Honda Rebel.
