The new Toyota Yaris hatchback has been spotted testing yet again in India. This time the test mule vehicle was spotted at Rudrapur district of Uttarakhand, India. The 2021 Toyota Yaris hatchback had scored 5-stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.
Our follower Udit Tomar shared these images with us. The test mule vehicle seems to be the fourth-generation Toyota Yaris hatchback automatic variant. The spotted Toyota Yaris hatchback sports projector headlights, roof-mounted spoiler, shark fin antenna, sporty bumpers, skid plates and a very stylish set of rear lights similar to the European model. For some reason, the manufacturer’s logo on the car has been covered.
In the global market, the new Toyota Yaris hatchback is offered with 3 engine options – 1.0-litre, 1.5-litre and 1.5-litre hybrid. The transmission options for the 3-cylinder engines include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual and a Direct Shift CVT automatic. The non-hybrid model produces 118 hp and 140 Nm of torque, while the hybrid model produces a combined power output of 195 hp and 261 Nm of torque.
On the inside, the Yaris hatchback sports a multilayered dashboard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen mounted in an island like position at the centre. The car also features a 4.2-inch driver instrument cluster, steering wheel with control buttons, push button start/stop and auto fold mirrors. The test mule vehicles’ cabin also features a wide central console with rotary knobs for the air-conditioning. The central console also houses a chunky gear selector.
In terms of suspension, the 2021 Toyota Yaris hatchback model uses MacPherson Struts at the front and torsion beam suspension at the rear.
Key features of the Euro-spec 2021 Toyota Yaris hatchback include – turn tilt seats, connected car technology, secondary collision brake, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist, automatic high beam, low speed acceleration control, front & rear disc brakes, advanced parking support system, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and driver head up display.
At present, Toyota Glanza is the only hatchback sold by the brand in India. If launched, the Toyota Yaris hatchback will compete with the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza aswell.
