Sales of new energy passenger car by BYD, one of the world’s largest electric vehicle makers, bulls in June from a year earlier, the latest in a series of reports this month that underscore growing demand for electric vehicles in China, the world’s biggest auto market and No. 2 economy. BYD sold 51,015 vehicles in June, with 49,765 units of passenger vehicles and 1,250 units of commercial vehicles respectively.
Shenzhen-headquartered BYD sold 49,765 passenger vehicles including the combustion vehicle and the new energy vehicle in June, increasing 52.5% YoY, while growing 10.2% MoM. In particular, the new energy vehicle sales reached 40,116 units, soaring 207.1% YoY, and increasing 26.6%MoM.
In the first half of 2021, BYD sold 242,321 passenger vehicles in total. Specifically, the cumulative sales of new energy passenger vehicle (NEV) reached 150,211 units. For the second half of 2021, BYD will continue increasing its production capacity to meet market demand and use innovative technologies such as the DM-i hybridsystem and the blade battery to create more sales in the future.
