    Citroen C3 spotted testing in Chennai, India

    Citroen had unveiled its India-bound compact SUV, Citroen C3 last month. Now a test mule of the car has been spotted testing in Chennai, India. The Citroen C3 is based on the Common Modular Platform (CMP) that will underpin other vehicles, including a sub-four-meter SUV from sister-brand, Jeep.

    The heavily camouflaged test mule car was spotted by Ananthakrishnan M. The Citroen C3 will be the first of three models under Citroen’s C-cubed programme, and has been specifically developed for emerging Asian markets like India.

    The Citroen C3 is set to arrive in India next year. The C3 will be produced at the Thiruvallur plant in Chennai, with series production set to commence from December this year. Price of the C3 will be revealed in the first half of 2022.

    The Citroen C3 is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine in India. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer. The C3 will be available with a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

    The Citroen C3 has only been revealed in dual tone exterior colours, which includes – Blue with White roof, Grey with Black, Orange with Black and White with Orange. The Citroen C3 has blacked A- and B-pillars, roof rails and ORVM caps painted in the same shade as the roof. The C3 will come with 10-inch infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, and will have a 315 litre boot.

    Citroen C3 in India

    Citroen is likely to price the C3 crossover at around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). The crossover will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breeza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300 and the Renault Kiger.
